Betsy Johnson challenges fellow candidates to seven debates across Oregon
Today, Betsy Johnson sent a letter to Christine Drazan and Tina Kotek, challenging them to participate in seven debates across Oregon during the 2022 gubernatorial campaign.
"We need a governor who can bring this state together and therefore we need to give everyone in all corners of the state a chance to hear directly from the candidates,” said Betsy Johnson. “In this election it’s important that all of us, as the candidates, use the campaign to help bring Oregon together on both the issues and geographically.
The letter from Johnson proposed that the candidates participate in a debate or candidate forum in Medford, Portland, Eugene, Bend, Pendleton and Coos Bay, in addition to the debate already scheduled with the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association. The letter also says that “if possible, it would be preferable for these debates to be televised, so that more people are able to hear directly from the candidates.
