RELEASE: Poll shows Betsy Johnson in two-way contest with Tina Kotek for governor
Today, GS Strategy Group released a poll on behalf of Betsy Johnson’s campaign for governor showing that Johnson has strong momentum in the race to be Oregon’s next governor and is now in a two-way contest with Tina Kotek. The poll found that if the election for governor was held today, Tina Kotek would receive 33 percent of the vote, Johnson would receive 30 percent and Christine Drazan would receive 23 percent. Fifteen percent of voters remain undecided.
“As the Oregon Gubernatorial election enters the summer, it’s clear that Johnson has gained the upper hand on the field,” said Robert Jones of GS Strategy Group. “As voters increasingly tune in to their choices, she is personally viewed most positively, and the idea of an independent governor drives undecideds to her. The primary honeymoon is over for party nominees, the two major party candidates are narrowly confined to their ideological bases, and Johnson is well positioned to win remaining undecideds.”
